Become a Japanese Food Connoisseur By the end of the class, you’ll not only know how to prepare a traditional Washoku meal but also have mastered the basics of Japanese dining etiquette. Experience the Authentic Washoku (Japanese Food) Class in the Heart of Tokyo at Chawa Masudaya, founded in 1930. Minimum number of participants: 2 people Maximum number of participants: 6 people Available Time Slots for the Washoku Cooking Class: 10:00-13:00, 15:00-18:00 (Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours) What Makes This Class Special? Our Washoku Cooking Class takes place in the former kitchen of a Kaiseki restaurant at Chawa Masudaya in Okubo, Shinjuku Ward. Emiko Masuda, a highly qualified instructor, speaks English, which is a major bonus for international participants. This isn’t just a class where you follow a recipe—it’s a comprehensive journey into Japanese food culture, cooking techniques, and dining etiquette. What You’ll Learn and Create In this class, you’ll be guided through the preparation of a traditional Ichiju Sansai meal, which consists of one soup, a main dish, and two side dishes. Here’s what you can expect to cook: - Miso Soup - Rice - One Main Dish and Two Side Dishes Participants aged 17 and above can join the class. For those aged 12 to 16, parental supervision is required. The class size is small (up to 6 people), ensuring personalized instruction. Exclusive Private Tour: However, if you are participating in a small group, you may be paired with other groups for the class. About the Washoku Menu: The same menu will be served for the entire group. We will inform you of the menu in advance. We are unable to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, or allergy-specific requests. Please participate at your own discretion. Neither Chaya Masudaya nor EDO KAGURA Corporation will be held liable for any issues that may arise. Included: - Washoku cooking experience led by a Licensed Chef. - Ingredient costs. - English-speaking local guide. - Flexible tour planning in English. Not Included: - Transportation costs (can be arranged at an additional cost). Note: The meeting place will be decided upon consultation with the customer. Cancellation Policy
Date of cancellation request received by us 8 or more days prior to the Experience Tour: No charge 2 to 7 days prior to the Experience Tour: 50% cancellation charge of the total cost 1 day prior and on the day to the Experience Tour: 100% cancellation charge of the total cost No show or after the commencement of the Experience Tour: 100% of the total cost In the event of a cancellation request, any refund will be remitted to your bank account after deducting the fees: cancellation charges as applicable and bank handling/wire transfer charges. It will likely take about 3-4 weeks to process under normal circumstances. The date and time of cancellation are based on Japan Standard Time only when a notice is received by EDO KAGURA Corporation, regardless of when the customer sent the notice.
