We are pleased to announce that, following the launch on our official website, tickets for "SHOGUN Cultural Experiences in Kagurazaka, Tokyo — Discover Edo Through All Five Senses (Cultural Walk · Wagashi · Tea Ceremony · Kokyu)" are now available on Confetti, Japan's leading ticket platform operated by LONGRUN PLANNING Corporation. We are also deeply grateful to Long Run Planning for issuing a press release to support this program.
What Kind of Experience Is This?
Kagurazaka, Tokyo — a district personally inspected by Tokugawa Ieyasu before the founding of the Edo Shogunate, and later shaped by the third Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu, who developed the iconic Kagurazaka street. This is a place where the spirit of the Shogun still lingers in every cobblestone lane.
Here, we invite you to a special 150-minute journey — one that engages all five senses and immerses you in the very soul of Edo-period Japan. If you're looking for Tokyo cultural experiences that go far beyond the surface, this program is designed for you. Far from the rush of conventional sightseeing, this is a morning of stillness, depth, and lasting resonance.
Program (approx. 150 minutes)
1. [Sight] Kagurazaka Cultural Walk (07:30–08:20)
Step into alleyways whose layout has remained unchanged since the Edo period, and visit Bishamonten Zenkokuji Temple, a site closely associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu. This is more than a guided tour — it's a thoughtful exploration of Kagurazaka through the lens of samurai history and Edo-era urban planning.

2. [Taste & Smell] Wagashi Workshop & Tea Ceremony (08:20–09:10)
The journey continues at Fufumi-an, an exquisite Sukiya-style wooden retreat completed in August 2024, crafted by Kyoto's finest artisans. Here, you'll receive personal instruction from Takeshi Inoue, fourth-generation head of the celebrated Baikatei confectionery. Recognized as a Tokyo Meister and Outstanding Wagashi Artisan, and trusted as a purveyor to the Imperial Household, Mr. Inoue guides you in crafting seasonal Japanese sweets by hand — then invites you to savor them with matcha in an authentic tea ceremony setting.

3. [Sound & Touch] Kokyu Performance & Hands-on Experience (09:10–10:00)
The kokyu is Japan's only bowed string instrument, carrying the voice of the Edo period into the present day. In this session, you'll experience a live performance by Daisuke Kiba, one of Japan's most celebrated kokyu artists — known internationally for his contribution to the soundtrack of the Emmy Award-winning drama SHOGUN. After being moved by his hauntingly beautiful playing, you'll have the rare opportunity to try the instrument yourself.

Why This Is Tokyo's Most Unforgettable Cultural Experience
The value of this program goes beyond its content alone. Among the many Tokyo cultural experiences available to visitors, what sets this morning apart is the combination of:
A 7:30 AM start — Tokyo at its most serene, before the city wakes
Intimate access to true masters — not performers, but living custodians of their craft
A maximum of 8 guests — ensuring genuine connection and personal attention
A focus on understanding, not just sightseeing — designed to leave a lasting impression
Together, these elements create something rare: a cultural experience you will carry with you for the rest of your life.
For those seeking meaningful Tokyo cultural experiences — especially a genuine, unhurried morning — this is it.
