A Day of Recognition: Kagurazaka at Tourism EXPO Japan 2025 as Tokyo Cultural Experiences

On September 25, 2025, we had the honor of joining Tourism EXPO Japan 2025, one of the world’s largest travel trade shows, held in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture. This year, we were officially invited to exhibit at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau’s booth—an extraordinary opportunity that highlighted how our work is being recognized.

In fact, last year’s Tourism EXPO Japan 2024, we also participated in the same official Tokyo booth through the introduction of the Shinjuku Convention & Visitors Bureau. To be invited for a second year in a row, completely free of charge, is both a privilege and a validation of the value of what we do.

Meeting the Professionals of the Travel World

The day was filled with appointments with buyers and professionals from travel companies across Japan and abroad. Originally, we had eight meetings scheduled, but two more companies requested appointments on the spot after learning about our tours—bringing the total to ten.

Their reactions were heartfelt:

  • “I didn’t realize such a wide variety of Kagurazaka cultural experiences could be found right in the center of Tokyo.”

  • “It’s wonderful that these are not staged shows, but opportunities to meet real artisans and geisha.”

For me, it was a powerful reminder that our insistence on authenticity—the heart of our traditional Japanese culture tours in Tokyo—truly resonates with professionals in the travel industry.

Our Three Commitments to Authenticity

1. Everything is Real

Our tours take place in genuine locations: workshops, temples, and ryotei restaurants. Guests meet and learn directly from authentic masters—artisans, geisha, and monks. Nothing is fabricated for tourism.

2. World-Class Teachers

We are proud to collaborate with leaders in their fields:

Yukiko Takahashi, a top figure in the ukiyo-e world; Tomita Sen Kogei, a dyeing studio with five nationally certified traditional artisans; Mr. Takeshi Inoue of the famous wagashi shop Baikatei, and musicians such as the Okamura family and Daisuke Kiba, who also contributed to the drama SHOGUN.

These experts bring unmatched depth to each geisha experience, tea ceremony, wagashi making, shamisen and kokyū performance.

3. Warm, Flexible Hospitality

Our dedicated cultural guides are specialists who can interpret even complex terminology. I personally accompany tours to ensure guests feel supported and can focus fully on enjoying their journey.

Reflections at the End of a Long Day

The day began before dawn and ended with deep conversations and shared laughter over Nagoya’s famous chicken wings at Sekai no Yamachan, followed by kishimen noodles on the bullet train platform. I returned home to Kagurazaka at 11:30 PM, tired but filled with gratitude.

That night, one thought stayed with me: “I want more travelers to discover these authentic experiences of Japan’s culture.”
